The debut single "My Brother's Coming To Town" was recorded in 2017 at La Mina studio in Torrequinto, Spain. The members of Best Of Feelings united there, Michael, the bassist, flying across the Atlantic Ocean from Montreal, Canada, Jozef and Santi flying in from Barcelona, and Gonzalo flying from Madrid. The song was first conceived as an improvised jam between Jozef and Santi in Barcelona while waiting for Jozef's brother to arrive for a visit. The studio composition was left unaltered from the original jam, including all the ad-libbed lyrics. A few takes in the studio, and a day of overdubs later, a hit was born.
lyrics
My brother's coming to town
We're gonna act like clowns
My brother's coming to town
Not gonna stay too long
We're gonna go down to the beach
We're gonna have a seat on the sand
Gonna watch the birds fly
Gonna watch the girls go by, oh oh oh oh
And when the sun goes down
I don't know what's going to go down
Probably (get) up to no good
We're gonna get kicked out of bars
Act like a bunch of tourists
The locals will kill us
We'll eat some ham and cheese
I like cheese, we all like cheese
Cheese band, cheese band
Gonna drink it down
Drink it down to the ground, yeah
Gonna drink some wine with that cheese
Gonna drink it down
Down to the ground yeah yeah
Drink some wine
Cheese band
In the streets of Barcelona
Up to no good
In the streets of Barcelona
Recorded at La Mina Studio (Seville, Spain) in October 2017
Engineered by Raúl Pérez
Mixed by Richard White (Breakglass Studio, Montréal)
Mastered by Mario G. Alberni (Kadifornia Mastering)
